Hey. Welcome back. I want to thank everybody for the warm embrace on the return of this newsletter. It means a lot to hear from so many people who loved and missed my stories.
A very special thank you to everyone who paid to subscribe. That support means so much to me, and it provides me with the necessary motivation to seriously dig into this newsletter and keep it going. Please send me your mailing address if you haven’t, I’d love to send you a postcard. And if you haven’t subscribed already, you can do it here.
Don’t worry, if you can’t afford it or you’re already subscribed to 300 other things and can’t justify the value/expense ratio, I totally understand. This newsletter will always remain free to read.
As I mentioned in #131, I started a YouTube channel.
Starting isn’t exactly the right word for it. I’ve had this channel since 2006. Remember my everyday project? I had only used this YouTube channel for posting updates of that video. For decades I thought that was all it would be. I didn’t want to taint it with other things I was making. Besides, nothing could ever be as big. The channel was art.
Well, I changed my mind.
In the first new video “Welcome to my YouTube Channel” (January 11, 2024 ), I introduce myself and explain what’s going to happen.
The shots featured in the video are of me talking into a microphone in my studio. I wanted to set some expectations for people who might have been following the channel because of my everyday videos.
So what’s going to happen? Good question. I say stuff like:
There seemed to be a mix of excitement and disappointment from the crowd on YouTube.
After posting this video I lost 500 subscribers.
Not to be deterred, I returned the next day with “You Have Comments. I have reactions.” (January 12, 2024). I had changed my mind. We ARE going to talk about everyday. Listen, it’s not atypical for me to do a complete 180 in less than 24 hours. I found a bunch of comments that had been left on my videos and responded to them.
Disagree!
Why do people say this— I look nothing like him?!
An opportunity to express my feelings about unsolicited feedback.
But, of course, there were plenty of moments to express my gratitude for how much that project has impacted people’s lives. I am unironically grateful for these types of reactions.
You should watch the whole video, I think it’s fun, even though I do screw up the audio five minutes in.
I figured I’d mess something up. You gotta get those mistakes out of the way early.
We grow. We change. We get better.
Hopefully.
You can now explore the entirety of the everyday project in photos on a dedicated website here: everyday.photo
If you’re new here, or to my work in general, I have written about everyday a few times.

Personally, I love how you continue to evolve and create. I have struggled with this over the years: did I paint myself into a corner? But I think stretching the limits of how we do what we do is part of the process. I have enjoyed your YouTube videos and love seeing your updates in my feed. And it's great to see you writing again. Keep going, Noah. We appreciate you!
